SUPPORT GROUPS

Providing healing, connection and community for our neighbors in need.

We offer support groups because mental health care and community are often not readily available to people experiencing homelessness or living at the margins. Many of our neighbors carry trauma, isolation, and chronic stress with few safe places to talk about what they are facing or to access consistent support.

Healing happens in community, not in isolation. Our groups create welcoming, stable spaces where participants can be heard, find language for their experiences, and connect with others who understand. By pairing mental health support with meaningful relationships, we help neighbors build resilience, reduce isolation, and take concrete steps toward greater stability.

Our Groups

Mental Health Peer Support

Every Monday from 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Facilitator: Rev. Bryan Mealer, Board-Certified Chaplain and Director of Social and Spiritual Support at Broadway Community

Our Mental Health Peer Support Group is an open, nonjudgmental space where community members come together to share what they are carrying. Sometimes affectionately called the “taking out the trash” group, it offers a place to speak honestly about frustrations, stress, and everyday challenges in the company of others who understand.

This group is grounded in mutual support rather than clinical treatment. Participants are encouraged to listen, reflect, and support one another in a respectful and confidential setting. There is no requirement to share -- people can participate in whatever way feels most comfortable. By creating space for connection and expression, the group helps reduce isolation and strengthens a sense of community and belonging.

This group is open to anyone, welcomes drop-ins, and does not require a long-term commitment.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based, structured approach to treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our closed group meets weekly in a 12-week cohort and is designed to help participants understand how trauma has shaped their thoughts, beliefs, and sense of safety. Through guided discussion and practical exercises, participants learn to identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, reduce the emotional impact of trauma, and build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

Because CPT is a structured and skills-based model, participants must complete a brief intake interview with staff before joining to ensure the group is a good fit. The closed format allows members to build trust over time and move through the curriculum together in a supportive, consistent environment.

Cognitive Processing Therapy

Every Tuesday from 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Facilitators: Rev. Bryan Mealer, Board-Certified Chaplain and Director of Social and Spiritual Support at Broadway Community; Dr. Zoey Philips, PhD

Our Faith and Spirituality Group is an interfaith space where community members come together to reflect, connect, and share. Each session centers on a short, accessible sacred or reflective text, which serves as a starting point for conversation.

Participants are invited to explore their own life experiences through the lens of faith, spirituality, and personal meaning. The group is open to people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and levels of familiarity with religious practice. All are welcome, and participation can take whatever form feels comfortable -- whether speaking, listening, or simply being present.

This group is open to anyone, welcomes drop-ins, and does not require a long-term commitment.

Our Dance Movement Therapy Group offers a creative, body-based way to explore emotions, reduce stress, and build connection. Through guided movement and music, participants are invited to express themselves in ways that go beyond words.

Open to people of all skill levels, this group focuses on personal expression rather than technique. Each session includes time for reflection, giving participants space to share how the movements and music made them feel. The result is a supportive, engaging environment that encourages self-expression, connection, and joy.

This group is open to anyone, welcomes drop-ins, and does not require a long-term commitment.

Faith and Spirituality

Every Wednesday from 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Facilitator: Rev. Bryan Mealer, Board-Certified Chaplain and Director of Social and Spiritual Support at Broadway Community

Our Art Therapy Group offers a creative space for self-expression, reflection, and connection. Using a range of mediums -- including painting, sketching, crocheting, and more -- participants are invited to explore their thoughts and emotions through art.

Open to all skill levels, this group focuses on process rather than product. Participants can create freely and, if they choose, share their work and reflect on what it represents in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Through creative expression, the group helps reduce stress, build confidence, and foster a sense of community.

This group is open to anyone, welcomes drop-ins, and does not require a long-term commitment.
